Current postal legislation prohibits sending mail or parcels with the following contents:

Dangerous Goods

Dangerous goods are items whose shape, nature, or packaging can endanger people or damage other shipments, postal equipment, or third-party goods. Some everyday products are also prohibited in the postal network, including lighters, perfumes, manicure products, glue, paint, flammable liquids, aerosols, pressurized deodorants, hair dyes, and lithium batteries.

A specific exception exists for certain lithium batteries. Refer to the dangerous goods overview for the complete rules and detailed list.

Prohibited Items

  • Drugs, narcotics, and psychotropic substances.
  • Weapons, essential weapon components, and ammunition; imitation weapons; knives, swords, daggers, and other sharpened or cutting objects.
  • Items, writings, or substances whose import, export, production, circulation, distribution, use, possession, sale, or transport is generally prohibited by law.
  • Items with markings or inscriptions contrary to public order or accepted standards of decency.
  • Shipments whose destination or contents are prohibited under trade law.
  • Shipments containing counterfeit goods.
  • Coins, banknotes, and bearer securities.
  • Jewelry (except costume jewelry without gold, silver, or precious stones), artworks, collections, animal skins, and other high-value materials.
  • Parcels with a declared value above €5,000.
